What this helps with
Use this guide when an image does not download, saves with the wrong name, or does not open after saving.
Things to check first
- Make sure Chrome allows downloads from the current website.
- Check whether the file was saved to your default Downloads folder.
- Try saving the image again with a simpler filename.
- Refresh the page and try again.
- Try opening the image in a new tab before saving.
Common issues
The download fails
Some websites block direct image downloads or use protected image URLs. Try opening the image in a new tab and saving from there.
The file has no extension
Some image URLs do not include a normal filename. Snag attempts to detect the correct file type, but some websites make this difficult.
The file does not open
The file may have been blocked, saved incompletely, or served in a format your system does not support. Try converting it to JPG or PNG.
Chrome blocks the download
Chrome may block files it considers unusual or unsafe. Check Chrome’s download bar or downloads page for more information.
